The best fridge depends on your kitchen space, household size and how you shop. Here is how the main types compare:

What size fridge do I need?

Fridge capacity is measured in litres. As a general guide, allow around 150L for the first two people and roughly 50L for each additional person, then adjust up if you shop weekly or batch cook.

Before buying, measure the width, height and depth of the space, and leave a small gap around the unit for ventilation and for the doors to open fully.
